Journal Club
At De Lens Ophthalmics Family and Vision Care Centre we are dedicated to keeping in line with current research and evidence based clinical practice. In line with this our clinicians together with a group of other eye care practitioners meet weekly to discuss research articles that seek to explain burning questions and demonstrate new findings and techniques in eye care.
The Journal Club as it is referred to, meets weekly and has led to the creation of the research arm of our practice.
Purpose of the Journal Club
- Review current research in optometry and eye care
- Discuss new clinical findings and treatment techniques
- Improve evidence-based clinical decision making
- Strengthen understanding of research methods
- Promote continuous professional development among clinicians
Articles are selected by participating practitioners and discussed to extract clinically useful information to improve both practice and understanding of research methods.
